Niklas is from Vålberg outside Karlstad and as an eight year old he started playing on an old harmonium that his family had in their house, and that is how his interest in music began. He attended Sundstagymnasiet upper secondary school in Karlstad and got admitted to Skurups Folkhögskola (pre-college) immediately after graduation. After two years of studies there he got in to the Malmö Academy of Music.
- The best thing with this academy is everyone you get to play with. The school has a lot of resources and many good teachers. I get to choose which teacher I have on my primary instrument and this is fantastic.
- It feels like the school values meeting other students here from different programmes. I hang out as much with those studying to become music teachers as much as I do my own class mates. It’s also super fun with all the activities hosted by the student union.
Niklas takes advantage of the rich cultural life of Malmö by going to concerts and jams.
- I like to hang out at Moriska paviljongen, they have concerts and jam every wednesday. Palladium and Victoriateatern also offer a lot of good concerts. There are so many opportunities.
- Like everyone says, the best thing with Malmö is that it is a city where everything is close and just nearby.
In the future, Niklas would like to be able to make a living out of music both as a freelance musician, and by running a studio.
